As part of Project Area 3: Decentralized Communication Networks [1], the Wau Holland Foundation cooperated with the Decentralized Internet Federation Fusion (DIFF), a gathering [2] of contributors to Delta Chat, as well as related “neighboring projects,” at the Freie Demokratische Schule Kapriole [3] in Freiburg during June 7-17th 2025.
Delta Chat [4] is a free software, decentralized and secure messenger app with multi-profile and multi-device support, on mobile and desktop. As they wrote about earlier this month [5], as uncertain and volatile political climates on a global scale generate greater public interest in alternative communication methods and platforms for maintaining free and private discourse, funding for the development of these tools is becoming more critical than ever.
